Legislators in Tompkins County were once again unable to decide on their newest chairperson last night (February 4).
As per the county charter, an individual will now be appointed as early as Friday by County Clerk Maureen Reynolds, which is expected to happen as early as Friday.
Legislator Mike Sigler of Lansing has been serving as Temporary Chair since the January 7th organizational meeting.
For the third straight meeting, Legislator Mike Lane of Dryden and Anna Kelles of Ithaca were both unable to secure the eight votes necessary to win the job.
That individual would then remain in the role until an official agenda resolution is passed to hold another election.
