Tompkins County is hosting a basic SKYWARN spotter course April 12th 6:30-8:30 PM at the Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response.
The endeavor’s meant to train spotters regarding major weather patterns such as severe thunderstorms, tornados, hail, and what to report to the National Weather Service and Emergency Management regarding these major fronts. Topics include info on SKYWARN and its goal as well as the importance of spotters helping forecasters warning the public.
Those interested in becoming SKYWARN weather spotters are invited to attend with the class free and open to all. No age requirement or previous training is required. Find more info and to register HERE.
