The New York State Thruway Authority is minding all motorists that a toll increase is now in effect after the start of the New Year on the state thruway system. The increase comes after the NYS Thruway Authority Board of Directors approved the new rates back in September.
The base New York E-ZPass rate will now be increased by 5% for all thruways outside the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. This has been the first toll increase the Thruway Authority says since 2010. In 2027, there will be another 5% increase in tolls.
Standard toll rates for non-NY E-ZPass and Tolls by Mail will increase to 8.6 cents per mile for both groups by 2027. The Authority says the toll rates still remain under the standard of rates in other stations in the country.
