A new ‘Best Colleges List’ by the college information website, CollegeFactual.com, analyzed 2,241 schools across the country including three from our area, all in the top 300. They are Cornell, Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland.
Cornell University was in the top fifteen analyzed at #13. They handed out 7,952 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021 and have a freshman retention rate of 96%.
Ithaca College was ranked #168 on this list.
SUNY Cortland was ranked at #298.
This ranking also noted that several of SUNY Cortland’s academic programs were among the best in the Mid-Atlantic Region. They include parks, recreation and leisure studies, physical education, subject-specific teacher education, exercise science, sport management, special education and teaching English as a second language.
Students who graduate from SUNY Cortland with a bachelor’s degree go on to jobs where they make an average salary of $53,711 in their early post-college years, according to a recent release from SUNY Cortland.
College Factual ranking methodology uses over 20 different objective factors – such as graduation rate, post graduate earnings, and a school’s average expenditure per student, among others to create its ranking.
Other notable local universities include Syracuse University ranked at #71, and Binghamton University ranked at #180.
