Three males were taken into custody Wednesday night (December 25) after officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department discovered their vehicle to be stolen.
Deputies responded just past 10 p.m. to a roadside vehicle that had run out of gas in the town of Marathon, next to which stood 18-year-old Vicente Martinez, of Cortland Street in Marathon, 20-year-old Isaias Lanzo, of Bradley Street in Syracuse, and a 16-year-old juvenile.
During the initial roadside interview, officers say Martinez gave them a false name, which prompted further investigation that eventually led them to the discovery that the vehicle in front of them was reported stolen the day before from a business in the Town of Salina.
Lanzo and Martinez were arrested without incident and charged with fourth-degree Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.
Martinez was also hit with a second-degree Criminal Impersonation charge and multiple Vehicle and Traffic tickets.
Both were issued appearance tickets to the Marathon Town Court on January 15.
The juvenile was released to a family member and will be petitioned at a later date.
