Marathon Central School District was one of 23 school districts in New York State that were listed as districts going through fiscal stress for the 2021 year. New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli released this list this morning (Jan. 27).
“Fewer of New York’s school districts were scored as under fiscal stress in 2021, but the operational issues caused by the pandemic for all school districts were extreme,” DiNapoli said. “School districts must watch their finances closely as the pandemic continues, prices rise and staffing issues mount.”
Marathon was listed under the “Susceptible Fiscal Stress” section. DiNapoli has a Fiscal Stress Monitoring System that reports the fiscal stress findings.
DiNapoli noted that Dryden did not file its report in time to be part of the survey.
