The Steve Miller Band & Peter Frampton Announce Joint Summer Tour; Stops At Turning Stone

Music News

The Steve Miller Band and Peter Frampton are teaming up for a major joint summer tour. The pair of old friends have just announced a 30-date swing through North America, which kicks off on June 15th in Holmdel, New Jersey at PNC Bank Arts Center and wraps on August 13th in Murphys, California at Ironstone Amphitheatre.

Steve Miller was quoted by as saying, “Peter and I first met at Olympic studios in London in the late-’60s when we were both just starting our recording careers. He was a wonderful guitarist and songwriter then and he is even more so today. Over the years, we’ve played together in venues from theatres to football stadiums and everything in between. He always sets the musical bar high, his band always knocks me out, and I’m thrilled we are going to spend the summer together doing a great run of concerts. This is the kind of quality and talent we both strive to present and I’m looking forward to a summer of great music, exceptional performances and fun. Peter is a remarkable musician.”

Peter Frampton, who’ll be touring his acoustic “RAW” tour throughout the spring, posted on his Facebook page: “Steve Miller was in a recording studio vocal booth stacking incredible harmonies the first time we met in London, circa 1970. From that moment on I have been a huge admirer of his multiple talents, singing, writing and of course his amazing guitar playing. Over the years we have played together everywhere from theatres to stadiums. Now, once again, we have the opportunity to play together touring the U.S. this summer.”

Frampton added: “Steve has already asked if I will come and jam on a few tunes during his set. ‘YES PLEASE!’ was my very quick answer! Music is all about having fun and playing from the heart. I can guarantee you much fun will be had by all on this tour. Can’t wait to get out there and do it again!! Hope to see you all.”

Peter Frampton admits that despite his advancing age, he feels just as energetic once he hits the stage as he did back in the Frampton Comes Alive! era: “The thing is that I feel the same as I did when I started inside, it’s just the casing that changes. Y’know, I still have the same excitement for what I do — which I think is pretty amazing. I don’t understand it myself, but I do! It’s still an addiction to music — if you want to put it in brutal terms. Y’know, what else am I gonna do, it gives me so much pleasure.”
