The Eagles Release Massive ‘Eagles Legacy’ Multimedia Set

Music News

Released today (November 2nd) is Eagles: Legacy, a massive dozen disc, CD/DVD/Blu-ray set that spans the group’s career with seven studio albums, three live albums, singles, B-Sides, and two concert videos. The 15 LP version includes the vinyl debut of Millennium Concert. The CD version of the Legacy box is available for $179.98, and includes two concert videos: Hell Freezes Over (DVD) and Farewell Tour: Live From Melbourne (Blu-ray).

The vinyl version of the box sells for $349.98. It has all the music from the CD’s on 15 LP’s — but none of the videos. Both sets are housed “in slipcases and accompanied by a 54-page hardbound book that’s filled with rare and unseen photos, memorabilia, and artwork that encompasses the band’s entire career.”

A highlight of all of Jackson Browne’s concerts is “Take It Easy” — a song primarily written by him, but finished off by his friend, the late, great Eagles leader, Glenn Frey before becoming the group’s first bonafide classic hit: “I could have wished to have been in the Eagles many a time, but I never had the skills to be in a band like that; neither as a singer or probably as a player, y’know? They worked real hard, they made a lot of music. I think they worked like the Beatles worked: four pieces, y’know four pieces playing all the parts, singing all the parts. And they all brought incredible experience — I mean, Glenn had played with Bob Seger, Bernie had been, y’know, played with the (Flying) Burrito Brothers, Randy Meisner had played with a bunch of bands, I saw him play in L.A. — also (with) Rick Nelson, and (Don) Henley had been in a group called Shilo and they came to L.A. — and that’s how they knew him, I guess — because, they were on Jimmy Bowen’s record label. They all came from their own musical backgrounds and when they came together, they coalesced in a way that was pretty hard to top.”
