The Great New York State Fair has added even more free shows at Chevy Court. Just announced is Brian Wilson with Al Jardine, Blondie Chaplin and his band. They’ll perform at 8pm on Monday, August 29th.
Here’s the announcement from the Great New York State Fair’s website:
One of the greatest albums in all of rock n’ roll will be performed on the Chevy Court stage when Brian Wilson celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Beach Boys’ legendary “Pet Sounds” album at 8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29 at the Great New York State Fair. Wilson will be joined by Al Jardine, Blondie Chaplin and his band. They will take the audience through every song on the album, and will also perform other hits and fan favorites from more than half a century of their music.
“Pet Sounds” is universally hailed as one of the greatest albums of all time. In 1965, with the Beach Boys out on tour, Wilson began session work on some of the most deeply personal recordings of his career. Inspired by The Beatles’ “Rubber Soul,” he challenged himself to create an immaculate musical masterpiece. A vast departure from the band’s then commercial sound, the resulting concept album “Pet Sounds” achieved great critical and commercial success, helping create a new musical landscape.
“It’s really been a trip to sit here and think about releasing “Pet Sounds” 50 years ago,” says Wilson, a legendary writer, producer, arranger and performer of some of the most cherished music in pop music history. “I love performing this album with my band and look forward to playing it for fans all across the world.”
Wilson’s performance happens on the first of two Senior Days at the Fair. Adults age 60 and over get into the Fair for free on those days.
All shows at Chevy Court are free with admission to the Fair.
