Tesla Superchargers to be Built At Starbucks on Clinton Ave.

The Starbucks on Clinton Ave. in the City of Cortland looks to have eight Tesla Supercharger stations. 7 would be in regular parking spots, with one being in a handicap space.

Speaking for the project was Scott Austin from Tesla’s charging team. He mentioned that the chargers would be available to any electric vehicle and not just Tesla models. He also noted that the parking spaces where the chargers are located would not be restricted to electric vehicles only. Vehicles charging at the location will have to pay for the electricity they consume.

Joe McMahon, Chair of the Planning Commission noted that he was happy with the project not limiting the spaces to only electric vehicles due to the size of the parking lot at Starbucks. Austin continued on saying that this will help expand and bring in the convenience for better sustainability.

The commission voted unanimously to approve the site plan review of the chargers with a condition that the new light poles installed in the parking lot will be built having the light facing downwards.
