Many of the state’s Congressional Districts were redrawn to the north and west by the state legislature.

The proposed makeup of the new 22nd Congressional District would run from Syracuse to south of Rochester, and include all of Onondaga and Tompkins Counties, most of Cayuga County, and much of Cortland County.

Cortland County towns in the new 22nd include the City of Cortland, Cortlandville, Cuyler, Homer, Preble, Scott, Solon, Taylor and Truxton.

The district stretches into Madison, Schuyler and even Ontario County.

The new lines would appear to set up a faceoff between two term Democrat Antonio Delgado and Republican Claudia Tenney.

The 23rd District
Some towns in Cortland County would become part of the new 23rd Congressional District, including all of Cincinnatus, Freetown, Harford, Lapeer, Marathon, Virgil and Willet.

The 23rd stretches to Lake Erie to the west, including All of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung and Steuben, Tioga plus parts of Chenango, Erie and Livingston Counties.

District lines needed to be redrawn with the loss of one Congressional seat following the census showing a population decline in our state.

Maps will be released next as well as revised state legislative districts.
