Officers from the City of Cortland Police Department responded to Wickwire Pool around 5pm on Thursday, July 27th.

A life guard working at Wickwire Pool informed officers that someone had removed and unscrewed multiple vertical cable rails from a railing, and was throwing them around the park and into the pool area.

Officers were also informed that the price of each cable rail was $50 and they reported 15 were missing. CPD officers were able to locate the suspect, 18 year old Alec J. Phillips, who was still in the park and charged him with Petit Larceny and Criminal Tampering, both Misdemeanors.

Phillips was issued appearance tickets to appear in Cortland City Court at a later date. He was also issued a Trespass Notice, which now bars him from Suggett Park for two years.
