Teen Driver Ticketed Following Cincinnatus Rollover Crash

Local News

A teenager from Cincinnatus faces DWI, speeding, and other tickets following a rollover crash Monday at the intersection of Routes 26 and 23 in that town.

Cortland County Sheriff’s deputies say Jason Rice, 18, was going fast when he crossed into the oncoming lane on Rt 26 near Rt 41.

That’s when another vehicle, driven by a man from Warners, was forced off the road and into a sign post.

Officers say Rice tried to regain control of his vehicle for another half-to-three-quarters of a mile.continued

His vehicle went into a ditch and hit a mailbox before flipping onto its roof in the middle of Rt 26, near Rt 23.

Deputies said they believed Rice was under the influence of some type of drug.

He was taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital for what deputies describe as minor injuries and given his tickets for DWI, DWAI, failure to keep right and speeding.

Rice is to appear in Cincinnatus court on August 17th.
