TC3 Student Sworn In As Member of Board of Trustees
TC3 announced on Thursday that their newest student trustee on the College Board of Trustees is Shannon Boyd.
Boyd, an adult student living in Cortland, is now a full-voting member on the 10-person Board of Trustees, and will be as such for one year. She is an accounting major who is set to graduate by 2025 while also serving as a peer tutor for the college’s Baker Center for Learning.
“I have a passion for helping others and I want to be the student trustee to advocate for the student body to ensure their voices are heard at the highest level of decision-making,” said Boyd. This College delivers hope and empowerment to people who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunities TC3 provides.”
The Board of Trustees governs the college and is made up of representatives in both Tompkins and Cortland County appointed by the respective county legislature – or in some cases, the governor. The responsibilities of the board include approving the college budget, appointing personnel, and establishing policies that govern the College.
