Tompkins Cortland Community College is rolling out plans for a new $5.5 million child care center on the Dryden campus.
Construction on the new child care center could start in 2017. The new facility could accommodate up 80 children and would allow the school to provide day care for infants.
TC3 offers a degree in early childhood education, and the center would allow students to complete internships.
According to Bruce Ryan, Dean for External Communications, the college plans to establish an endowment fund that will pay for the child care center’s operations, and the planners seek to have the project funded roughly 50 percent through private money and 50 percent through state dollars.
So far the college has $2 million in private funding for the project.
