Tompkins Cortland Community College is hosting a pair of special events tomorrow (March 28).
First off, a grand opening ceremony for the new “recovery space” on campus at 1:15 p.m.
TC3 is the first community college in the state to have a dedicated space for students and faculty in recovery and those who are otherwise affected by addiction.
The College received a “Collegiate Recovery Mini-Grant” of $20,000 from the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) in November 2018. That grant provides the funding for this project.
Meetings are held at the recovery space (room 178) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and alternate Wednesdays from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Secondly, SUNY Chancellor Kristina Johnson is visiting campus tomorrow (March 28).
At this point, she’s expected to be at the ribbon cutting for the recovery space. She’ll then briefly tour the campus and speak with members of the media.
X101 will be there so stay tuned for more on tomorrow’s events.
