The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office in a press release has announced the arrest of a Taylor man for a rock throwing incident.
The Sheriff’s Office tell’s us on Tuesday evening (July 10th) at 6:30pm they responded to Hubbards Hill Road in the Town of Taylor for a report of an argument between two individuals.
According to police, Russell J. Hyer, age 45, became angry with an individual, who was doing excavating work, on Hubbards Hill Road. Hyer picked up a rock and threw it at the bulldozer operator, striking the victim in the head and he also advised the victim not to bother calling 911 because he was a police officer.
He then fled the area prior to police arrival. Sheriff’s Officers were unable to locate him and a warrant for his arrest was issued out of the Town of Taylor Court.
Officers caught up with him on Wednesday evening (July 11th) as they served the outstanding warrants. He did struggle with officers and was taken into custody without any injuries to him or police.
He was arraigned in the Town of Taylor Court and is currently being held in the Cortland County Jail on No Bail.
