Taxpayers May Pay More for an Additional Primary

Some candidates may find themselves without a seat to run from once Congressional and State Senate district maps are redrawn by a court-appointed outsider.



Taxpayers could be on the hook for millions of dollars to pay for an additional primary, and voters might be bewildered by the potential change. Governor Kathy Hochul promised that she and election officials would soon present a “clear path forward” for elections.”

The new maps are due May 20.
