John Harrison: [00:00:00] Good morning everyone. Welcome back to another edition of Peak at the Peak. It’s John Harrison in the CUA Health as part of Centralis Health System, sponsored studios, and of course, joining me over the line. As always, Jon Spalding up at Greek Peak Mountain Resort. Jon, thanks so much for joining.
Jon Spaulding: Great to be here, John.
Day number 72 of the ski season and what a season it’s been. We got five inches of new snow overnight, and a 30 to 60 inch base out there, wide open on the trails and all lifts spinning. It’s been a just a great season.
John Harrison: Yeah, I mean, who could wish for, for better conditions? I mean, at least if you’re gonna be up on the mountain anyway, enjoying the slopes.
I know, this morning I, I woke up, saw the five new inches and was like, ah, I’m gonna be late to work. Gotta brush out the car. But, you know, at least I know that people are getting good runs in, up on the mountain, all the. Lifts are spinning and yeah, ev everything’s going great up there. Day number 72.
Wow. Hard to believe. You know, we’re already this far into the season and hoping to go even farther, right?
Jon Spaulding: Oh, absolutely. We, like I mentioned, I think that we did 104 snow, ski days last year. We’re well on [00:01:00] pace for that. And then some. So we’re really excited about, not just the season, but the week ahead because it’s, president’s Week and, we got some great things coming to, kick it all off.
John Harrison: Yeah, that’s right. So let’s, let’s start the weekend, talking about tonight’s, weekly. APRI heirloom, right? They, they do that, that awesome night of live music and tastings and everything. And of course, that’s tonight at tracks. People can, can head on down. Remind us, you know, what times what people can expect and, and who our musical guest is tonight.
Jon Spaulding: Yep. So Apri heirloom tonight at tracks, four to seven. Our musical guest will be Corona Hudson. And, bonus day for our heirloom friends. They’ll be at, chair five on Saturday this week at the warming hut, from noon to three. So, that brand new warming hut down at Chair five has just been a, a real, showstopper for a lot of our guests.
They, they love it. And, that’s a courtesy of heirloom. So go, go down to chair five this weekend. It’s the start of President’s Week, and we’re kicking it off, right? With, some apre heirloom, events.
John Harrison: Yeah. And, what a great way to, to kick off President’s Week. Now in [00:02:00] terms of President’s Week, pretty big weekend up on the mountain.
You wanna talk about some of the great stuff going on, a little bit later on this weekend as we get into Saturday, Sunday, Monday, you know, just, just stuff coming up.
Jon Spaulding: Yeah. Saturday, February 21st is Winter Fest, here at Greek Peak. And it’s always right in the heart of President’s Week.
And we’re really excited for, some of the, events that we’re gonna be putting on for Winter Fest this year. Including, DJ on the deck, from noon to four. DJ dewitt will be out there from, noon to four. We’ve got a great, demo being put on, courtesy of burgers, ski and snowboard.
Get to try out gear from Nortica, Stokely, Liberty Rossi, K two, just a ton of different brands out there, right out on the, right out on the snow at the, at the base. So definitely wanna check that out. And. Of course we’re gonna have Young’s Tire involved because, we, we brought back the hide, the hide the tire contest.
There will be a hidden tire out on the, out on the mountain on Saturday Winter Fest. And. Person that [00:03:00] finds that and brings it down to the base will get a free set of snow tires, courtesy of Young’s Tire. So lots of things going on, during Winter Fest.
John Harrison: Yeah. All right. Well that sounds good. I, I gotta get up on the mountain and try to find that tire.
I could, could use a free set myself.
Jon Spaulding: Sure. Absolutely.
John Harrison: Yeah. Alright, well Jon, you know, we’re. Starting to run a little short on time here. Anything else you wanna mention, coming up, any great deals, anything you want people to know, you know, that’s going on up at Greek Peak looking forwards to the, the rest of the season, of course, we said 72 days, hoping to beat 104 this year.
Any last words? Any, anything you want people to hear?
Jon Spaulding: Yeah, I just wanna encourage everyone with the snow that’s coming out there. Even if you’re not a skier or a borderer, you can come out to Greek Peak and enjoy the snow that we got a great tubing hill with 10 lanes. And, that’s, you know, had some great improvements, for this season.
And, just, just come out here. We got cross country, trails as well. Snowshoeing, just get out and enjoy the snow because, you know, these central New York winners, they seem like they can be, a little tough on you, but when you, when you get out there and enjoy the snow, it’s, it’s a whole different ballgame.
So come join us at Greek [00:04:00] Peak.
John Harrison: Yeah, couldn’t have put it better myself. Well, Jon, thanks so much for joining me for another edition of Peak At The Peak.
Jon Spaulding: Thanks, John.
John Harrison: Yeah, of course. And for everyone listening at home, it’s been Jon Harrison on X 1 0 1.
