A new Taco Bell location is looking to be built at the former Key Bank Branch on Route 13 in the Town of Cortlandville. Hospitality Restaurant Group, owners of the Riverside Taco Bell, presented preliminary plans for a brand new building on the lot of the former Key Bank Branch to the Cortlandville Planning Board.

Renderings shown during the meeting show a new construction building on the lot, the former Key Bank would be demolished, it also features dual drive-thru lanes, parking for 29 vehicles, and three points of entry.

The building would be a new concept Taco Bell is rolling out. The interior of the restaurant would be able to seat 40 patrons with the dual drive-thru being more efficient and capable of holding twenty vehicles, removing the issue of cars blocking the parking lot.
Overall the board’s views to the sketch plan review were very positive, noting the nice modern design and new layout on the land. One issue was raised, and agreed by other members of the board, of one of the entry/exit points being right off the light as you enter the plaza. Another was on the tall mounted sign along Route 13, the board said a majority of the surrounding businesses use a lower mount type sign, examples include McDonald’s and Lowe’s.
A timetable of when the new restaurant would open was not given as construction will depend on permit approvals and weather, but an opening looks like sometime late Spring or early Summer 2024.
Hospitality Restaurant Group currently owns the River Street location in the City of Cortland, among many other Taco Bell restaurants, and assured that location would remain open.
The company is likely to return next month for the next planning board meeting with further details on the proposed restaurant and hopefully, approved permits necessary for construction.
