Local News

A Syracuse man was arrested Friday (January 10) evening following an attempted burglary at a residence on State Route 11 in the town of Homer.

State Troopers and investigators with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded just before 11 a.m. and determined 54-year-old Curtis McCormick tried to break into the home, but smashed an exterior window and never gained entry before fleeing the area.

He was located in Syracuse several hours later and arrested by SP at North Syracuse just after 7 p.m., before being brought back to Homer for arraignment and later remanded to the Cortland County Jail on no bail.

McCormick will reappear at a later date on a felony charge for attempted Burglary in the second degree, along with a misdemeanor for Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree.
