Supporting Police Catches On In Cincinnatus

Local News

COPS logoDave’s Treats in Cincinnatus wanted to show its support for police, so last Friday it began selling a special Perry’s ice cream flavor.

“It’s Perry’s ‘True to the Blue’ ice cream,” said co-owner Sharon Constantino. It’s vanilla ice cream with salty caramel swirls and blue pretzel balls. It’s really yummy!”

The fundraiser is simple. Buy a “True Blue” cone, post a selfie with it on the Dave’s Treats Facebook page, and you might win a prize.
Constantino says 20% of these cone sales are being donated to Concerns of Police Survivors or COPS, that helps families of law enforcement.

Owners Ronnie and Sharon bought T-shirts for staff, and they also were a hit, so they sold some and raised more money for COPS. Members of the Cortland County Sheriffs Department bought 31 and Cortland City Police purchased more than a dozen. Customers also wanted to buy the shirts.

“The reaction and the support was overwhelming. We’re really happy the way it all turned out.”

Dave’s is now three orders into the shirts, selling more than 117 so far.

On Saturday, Dave’s will sponsor a 5-K run and celebration and awards the cone selfie prize.
