New York Governor Kathy Hochul has extended the Disaster Emergency in the State of New York through March 16, 2022. She reports New York State is #1 among large states for the percentage of 12-17 year old’s who are fully vaccinated.

Superintendents of Cincinnatus, Cortland, Homer, Marathon and McGraw schools are among two dozen from Central New York that sent a letter to the Governor asking about her strategy on ending COVID mitigation. Read that-masks on students.

State Health reports Cortland County had 15 new COVID cases on Tuesday. The county says 6 people were in the hospital as of Monday. The percentage of children 5-11 who are vaccinated in our county is stagnant at 24.6%. There are no clinics scheduled.

More COVID-19 test kits are available for Homer residents. The Village and Town will distribute a thousand of them Thursday 4-6 pm in a drive through at the Town Hall.

The Town of Truxton will distribute its COVID test kits…decided at a town board meeting last night.

Marathon Schools are offering COVID test kits to parents, so the kids can be checked that first Monday back to school after spring break.

As a reminder – The SUNY Cortland COVID state test site remains open weekdays 8:30 to 4 at the Chugger Davis Building. Appointments are encouraged.

If you’re headed to any of the Turning Stone bars, beginning Friday, you will no longer need to show proof of vaccination. For a show, you will.
