SUNY Cortland Police Chief Steven Dangler, Chief of Police since 2003, retires in a week.

He’s leaving a department that recently moved into repurposed office space in Whitaker Hall, with the latest in high-tech police equipment.

It includes a state-of-the-art dispatch room to monitor all parts of campus.

Dangler will retire on July 7, ending a 40-year career.

Assistant Chief of Police Mark DePaull, who has served in the department since 1990, will take over as chief on July 9.
