It will be good news to hear for motorists traveling from one side of the City of Cortland to the other. SUNY Cortland has confirmed to X101 News the intersection improvement project at Broadway Ave, Neubig Rd, and Pashley Drive, will reopen early next week.

“We are on schedule to open the intersection to public traffic early next week. It will be opened as a 4-way stop until we receive and install the new traffic signal equipment.”

Dillon Young, Lead Construction Manager at SUNY Cortland, said in a statement to X101 News.

Construction crews have been hard at work since early May rebuilding the intersection at the bottom of the SUNY Cortland Campus hill. The work will create turn lanes, a raised intersection to slow vehicles down, enhanced crosswalks, a new bus stop, and new lighting, curbing, and traffic signals.

Phase two of the project required the complete closure of the intersection to traffic. The intersection hasn’t seen major work in over 30 years.
