Ilene Singer Knebel, a 1984 graduate of SUNY Cortland, won $112,000 on Tuesday night (Jan. 25) on the Wheel of Fortune.

Knebel first won a trip to the Caribbean and $5,000 cash. In the bonus round she won the $100,000 grand prize for answering the final puzzle correctly. She walked away with $112,000 in cash winnings.

“The whole thing was just amazing,” said Knebel, a former SUNY Cortland speech communications major who graduated cum laude. “And then to have to keep that secret for so long was super hard. But it made it even sweeter when my friends and family were there in the audience to see it happen.”

She currently works as an executive assistant for the City of Beverly Hills, California and resides in Los Angeles.

“It’s a lovely memory, something I’ll never do again,” she said.
