Sunday Storm Knocks Out Power For Thousands in Cortland County
A strong weather system bringing wind gusts above 50 miles per hour in Cortland County along with a line of severe thunderstorms has led to thousands of customers for both National Grid and NYSEG to lose power.
As of 6:30pm, National Grid is reporting over 6,200 customers are without power with no estimated time of power restoration. Some outages have yet to have a crew assigned, according to National Grids Power Outage Map.
NYSEG is reporting over 2,500 customers are without power in the Southern/Eastern portions of Cortland County, and the Dryden area.
Homer Fire told X101 News the fire department responded to 8 storm-related calls and 2 EMS calls between 4 and 6pm. No injuries were reported in any of the calls and damage was limited to a home that had a tree fall onto its house.

Cortlandville Fire says their firefighters also responded to numerous calls, mainly of trees down, including one damaging the side of a house. Again, no injuries were reported in any of the calls.
A reminder for motorists, if you encounter a traffic light that is out, it automatically becomes an ALL-WAY STOP.
X101 News will provide updates on power restoration times when available.
