Summer Youth Employment Program Looking for Businesses to Have Interns for Summer

Cortland Works Career Center is looking for area businesses who would like to host youth interns for six weeks this summer.



The Cortland Works Career Center uses grant funding to provide opportunities for local youth gain experience in the workforce. Businesses who participate in the program can help develop the emerging workforce by participating as a worksite for the STEP1 year round program for youth ages 16-24 or for the six-week summer program for youth ages 14-20.

Requirements for businesses interested in participating include providing a safe learning environment, providing approximately 20 hours per week of meaningful work, offering training and guidance, engaging in regular communication with the intern and the Career Center Youth Staff , and allowing flexibility for the the intern to attend appointments and trainings at the Career Center.

The Career Center works with Cortland County to serve as the employer of record, covering all employment-related requirements, including State required trainings, all insurances, and payroll services. They provide  eager candidates, program oversight, weekly work site visits, and additional training.
