Styx becomes the latest act to postpone tour amid rising COVID-19 concerns

Jason PowellAs artists left and right cancel or postpone their tours amid the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, Styx announced on Thursday that they have postponed the remainder of their March concert dates.

After fielding concerns from fans about the pandemic and monitoring guidance from world health officials, Styx announced that their concerts from March 13 through March 28 will be rescheduled. 

Overall, 11 show dates have been affected.

The “Come Sail Away” act announced in a press release that they will be contacting ticketholders for the affected concerts and announce the rescheduled dates “in the coming weeks.”

Styx also urged fans to “Stay healthy and safe.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cautioned against mass gatherings to mitigate further spread of the contagious COVID-19 virus.

Other rock acts that have recently announced the cancellation or postponement of their tours are Pearl JamYesSlipknotMachine Head and many others.  The pandemic also forced the postponement of the popular Coachella music festival until October, where Rage Against the Machine was one of its scheduled headliners.

At least 1,663 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the United States.  The death toll in America currently stands at 40.
