Sting & Shaggy Tour Features A New Spin On The Hits

Music News

Sting and Shaggy are on the road in Europe and by all accounts are meshing their talents into a pretty unique show. The setlists thus far are fitting key tracks from the duo’s new album 44/876, along with Sting’s Police and solo classics, and Shaggy’s always entertaining and positive string of hip hop hits. Among the Police numbers tackled in the show are “Spirits In The Material World,” “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” “Message In A Bottle,” “Walking On The Moon, ” “So Lonely,” “Roxanne,” and “Every Breath You Take.” Sting favorites included “If You Love Somebody (Set Them Free),” “Fields Of Gold,” “Desert Rose,” “Englishman In New York,” and “Love Is The Seventh Wave” among others.

One of the highlights in the show is the main-set closing number from Shaggy — his 2000 smash, “It Wasn’t Me.” Shaggy told us that he doesn’t want his fans to assume that “It Wasn’t Me” is about him, or anyone else for that matter: “They are hypothetical situations that I pick out. It’s not necessarily from my own experience. It’s just like a song, like, “It Wasn’t Me” was a joke I heard on Eddie Murphy’s Raw when he was telling the girl, ‘Hey, when she calls you, no matter what, if she caught you on top of it, it wasn’t me.’ Y’know, that was just something that I thought was dope.”
