Steven G. James Confirmed by State Senate as NYS Police Superintendent

Steven G. James has been confirmed to be the New York State Police Superintendent after a confirmation by the State Senate on Thursday, April 4th.


“I am profoundly grateful to Governor Hochul and the New York State Senate for the opportunity to serve as the 18th New York State police superintendent. I remain committed to fostering trust, collaboration, professionalism and accountability within our agency to better serve the people of our great state.”

New York State Police Superintendent Steven G. James said.

Superintendent James has been with the New York State Police for over 32 years. In those 32 years, over 20 have been in a leadership role. His most recent position was Deputy Superintendent for Employee Relations.

Governor Hochul announced the nomination of Superintendent James back in January of this year.
