Today (October 12) is the final day you can register to vote in the upcoming General Election November 6th.
However, in your race to make tonight’s deadline, make sure you’re still being extra careful with your information, as the state is now reporting the presence of voter registration scams in the area.
The New York State Board of Elections is warning the public that scammers are contacting residents via phone calls and text messages in an attempt to gain and use their information.
New York State does not allow voter registration by phone, and reminds you to never provide sensitive personal information over the phone or via text message.
If you have any additional questions, please contact John Conklin or Cheryl Couser in the Public Information Office at the New York State Board of Elections, 518-474-1953 or INFO@elections.ny.gov.
