State Police Looking For Two Suspects Who Used Counterfeit Cash to Buy Gift Card

New York State Police at Homer are seeking public assistance in identifying two suspects who were involved in passing counterfeit cash when purchasing gift cards at the Dollar General on West Main Street in Marathon.

State Police say the incident took place back on October 30th around 1:15 in the afternoon. Two men walked into the store and purchased a gift card worth $500, paying for it with counterfeit $100 bills. State Police say the fake bills resembled real bills but were missing security features. Both men only spent a few minutes inside the store before leaving in a dark colored sedan with a white license plate.

Both suspects are described as dark skinned with one wearing torn blue jeans, a black belt a black sweatshirt and black shoes; he also had short black hair with a black beard. The second suspect was wearing a baseball cap with a black sweatshirt, black sweatpants and black and gold shoes.

Anyone who can identify either suspect or may have information are asked to contact State Police at 607-561-7400, case #11691973.
