State Police Identify Driver in Fatal Crash

Around 6:50pm last night (June 1) calls came into 911 dispatch of a 3 vehicle motor vehicle accident on Route 13 in the Town of Cortlandville near the entrance of the Cortland Commerce Center (Across from Jiffy Lube and Walmart)


Reports came of multiple injuries and CPR being administered to one of the operators of the vehicles involved.

Cortlandville fire department immediately responded to the scene and requested that Route 13 be shut down between Lime Hollow Rd. and Bennie Rd.

The operator of a pick-up that was traveling north on Route 13 traveled into both southbound lanes on 13, according to a preliminary investigation. The operator of the truck, 34 year old Curtis A. Davies-Carr of Homer was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The operator of the pick-up heading southbound on Route 13 was identified as 27 year old John M. Czarpranski of Dryden, NY. His passenger 23 year old Oliva R. Levy of Binghamton; both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center.

The third vehicle, operated by 22 year old Sebastian Hollfelder of Homer that was also in the southbound lane was not transported via ambulance.

Route 13 was shut down for several hours as State Police and the New York Department of Transportation investigated the accident.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.

Assisting the Cortlandville Fire Department was TLC Ambulance, Dryden Ambulance and the New York State Police.
