State Police Arrest Well-Known Car Salesman For Felony Grand Larceny & Forgery

A well-known car salesman in the Cortland area has been arrested by State Police following an investigation that began back on June 19th. State Police arrested 40 year old Jason Allen on June 30th on the charges of Forgery in the 2nd, and Grand Larceny in the 3rd, both Felonies.

Jason Allen worked at Royal Chevrolet on Route 281 in Cortland for a number of years. He was fired on Friday, June 20th. The investigation alleges that Allen had embezzled over $13,000 while he was employed at the Royal Motor Company. State Police say Allen was signing referral checks which were intended to go to customers of the dealership and then signed the checks over to himself.

“No customers were affected by this fraud as referral checks were written to made-up customers.” Joe Reagan said to X101 News in a statement.

Allen was processed at the State Police Barracks in Homer before he was transported to the Cortland County Jail for Centralized Arraignment. He was later released Monday afternoon.
