State Police Announce Free Car Seat Check in Homer on Monday

New York State Police will again hold a free car seat check at the Homer Barracks at 2 Technology Place right off of Route 281 in Homer on Monday, October 20th from 4pm to 7pm. The car seat check will ensure that your car seat is installed properly and is the correct seat for your child, State Police say.

Troopers checking the seats are certified technicians. The inspection is hands-on to ensure the seat is properly installed. State Police say the check is more efficient when your child is with you to make sure the seat is the correct type for their age, weight, and height. Any questions parents/guardians may have will also be answered.

All car seats will also be checked if there are any recalls and if it is expired. According to the State Police, state law requires all children must be restrained in an appropriate child restraint system while riding in a motor vehicle until they reach their 8th birthday.  All children under the age of 2 must ride in a rear-facing car seat.
