New York State Parks is asking snowmobilers to ride safely as the snowmobile season opens. State Park’s want riders to be responsible and to put safety first as their main priority.
Some of the main safety recommendations include slowing down, staying on marked trails, never drinking alcohol or using drugs, wearing a DOT approved helmet, riding with a buddy, avoiding thin ice.
A safety certificate is required for youth from age 10-through-17 if they want to operate solo on a state trail.
Trail conditions can be viewed on the state monitor system found HERE.
