The website AAA says the average price of a gallon of gas in New York State has fallen 1 cent from a week prior, and 3 cents compared to a year ago at this time.
The numbers have decreased despite data from the Energy Information Administration showing gas demand is on the rise. However the supply of domestic gasoline stocks have gone up, which in turn has helped to lessen the painful price at the pump. Officials with AAA say that as long as demand doesn’t undergo a sudden spike, drivers could continue to only see those prices fall.
To conserve gas, AAA recommends drivers use methods including mapping routes, avoiding peak traffic times, and combining errands into one trip. They also recommend tire pressure be at the vehicle’s recommended level to get the best gas mileage.
