Spring Approaches: County Health Department Recommends Testing Your Well Water

Local News on WXHC.com is brought to you by:

The snowfall earlier this week may not have shown it, but Spring is almost here, this Monday to be exact. As Spring is about to begin, the Cortland County Health Department is recommending those who own private wells to test their water for any potential contamination.

Water that is contaminated and is used for drinking and/or preparing food can make you sick. Negative health effects of drinking contaminated water could impact those at higher risk including babies, children, those who are pregnant, elderly, and those with underlying health conditions already.

The Environmental Division of the Health Department though is here to help answer any questions, including information on testing. The Environmental Division may be reached by calling 607-753-5035.
