Little League was rained out too. Southeast Regional champion Goodlettsville and Mid-Atlantic Regional champion Maine-Endwell, N.Y. will meet at 2 p.m. Central time Monday at Lamade Stadium in an ESPN-televised game.

Team USA beat Serbia 96-66 to win their third consecutive Olympic gold medal in men’s basketball yesterday.

After Team USA won the Olympic gold medal in basketball yesterday, Former SU player, Carmelo Anthony said he’s retiring from international play. He’s the first American men’s basketball player to win three gold medals.

The Rio Summer Olympics wrapped up yesterday and in the end the United States finished with 121 medals. China was a distant second with a total of 70 medals.

Kyle Snyder of the United States won the Olympic gold medal in the men’s freestyle 97kg wrestling event yesterday. For the win, the Ohio State junior will receive $250,000 from wrestling’s governing body.

Two Mongolian wrestling coaches protested their wrestler being disqualified from an Olympic bronze medal match yesterday by entering the ring and stripping off their clothes. One coach removed only his shirt, while the other took off both his shirt and pants, leaving on only his underwear.

New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis will undergo follow-up knee surgery that will sideline him indefinitely. Lewis tore his ACL last November.

Former Detroit Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch has reportedly reached an agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles. The deal is pending a physical and is for one year and up to $3 million with $1.75 million guaranteed.

Kevin Harvick won the rain-delayed NASCAR race at Bristol over Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Chris Beuscher, who won in Pocono two races ago, finished fifth and moved into the top 30 in the points standings, which would qualify him for the chase for the championship if he holds that position.
