SPEAK UP Cortland Asks Residents To Chalk Their Sidewalks During Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

The month of September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and SPEAK UP Cortland is asking residents to join them in honoring the month by chalking your sidewalk with inspirational and hopeful messages for the rest of the month.

Those participating in writing messages on their sidewalk are encouraged to spread the message further by taking a picture of your chalk art and sharing it with SPEAK UP Cortland on Facebook by tagging SPEAK UP Cortland on your post and use the hashtag #SpeakUp.

Photos tagged to SPEAK UP Cortland will also have a chance to win a $20 gift card to Bru64 in three categories: Most Thoughtful, Most-Like on Facebook, and Most Creative Message.

If you are struggling with thoughts of suicide, dial 988 to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline or text at GOT5 to 741-741. More information may be found at SpeakUpCortland.org.
