Snowmobile Safety Course Announced By Sheriff’s Office


The Cortland County Sheriff’s has announced they will be hosting a Snowmobile Safety Course next month on January 27th at the Cortlandville Fire Station on Route 13. The Sheriff’s Office says space is limited for the one day course, which will begin at 8am.

The Sheriff’s Office says in New York State, youths between the ages of 10 and 13 may operate a snowmobile where snowmobiling is allowed, but only if they have completed a snowmobile safety training course that is recognized by the state and is accompanied by someone who is at least 18 years old.

For youths between the ages of 14 and 17 years old who currently have the certificate, are allowed to operate a snowmobile without adult or other supervision.
