SKYWARN Spotter Course to be Hosted by Tompkins County


A SKYWARN Spotter Course will be taking place on Wednesday, May 8th from 6:30 to 8pm at the Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response at 92 Brown Road in Ithaca. The event is being hosted by Tompkins County.

The course is open to anyone who is interested in becoming a SKYWARN weather spotter. Weather spotters provide important information to the National Weather Service in the event of storms and other weather conditions.

Topics to be covered include: the structure, formation, and hazards associated with different types of severe weather, how to help your community and the NWS with severe weather, and how to prepare and stay safe in the event of severe weather.

There are no age restrictions or previous training required to take part in the class. The class is also free and open to the public. To register and learn more about the upcoming class, click HERE.
