Six Dogs Surrendered to SPCA Following Animal Cruelty Investigation – Cortlandville Man Arrested
The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 55-year-old Michael A. Homza of Cortlandville following an animal cruelty investigation.
Officers responded to an animal neglect complaint on January 15 at a residence on Weaver Road in Cortlandville. Upon arrival, officers found several dogs left outside without appropriate shelter.
The investigation resulted in the surrender of six dogs to the Cortland County SPCA. A veterinary examination later determined that several of the dogs were emaciated and malnourished.
Homza was arrested on January 23 and charged with Overdriving, Torturing and Injuring Animals, four counts of Failure to Provide Sustenance, and four counts of Inappropriate Shelter for Dogs left outdoors.
He was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for processing and issued an appearance ticket. Homza is scheduled to appear in Cortlandville Town Court next month.
