’80s icons Simple Minds are keeping busy on the road in the UK in support of their critically acclaimed new album, Walk Between Worlds, which was released last month. The current lineup still features co-founders Jim Kerr and guitarist Charlie Burchill — with Kerr telling us the band is eying a string of U.S. dates later this year.
Kerr shed light on how Simple Minds operates when off the road — and admitted it’s a world away from how it was in the early days of the band: “If we’re not touring, we’re always writing because that’s just what we do. Back in the day (laughs), you’d get six weeks — y’know, I’m talkin’ about in the crazy ’80s — maybe eight weeks to write, record, get it done, and then get back out and you went with the first eight tunes you had with.”
Simple Minds will next perform on May 26th in Perth, Scotland, and throughout the summer will be on the road in the UK with The Pretenders — fronted by Jim Kerr’s ex-wife Chrissie Hynde.
