Yesterday evening in Endicott, Mike Sigler announced his candidacy for New York State Senate District 52. Sigler, a Republican, looks to unseat Democrat Lea Webb. Sigler is currently part of the Tompkins County Legislature and has served for 14 years.
Sigler made the announcement at the Sons of Italy Social Club in Endicott in front of a crowd of supporters and local officials. Sigler lives in Lansing with his wife and their four daughters. His family roots in the area goes back five generations.
“New York isn’t the same place that it used to be. Violent crime is up. Fentanyl and other dangerous drugs are killing people on a daily basis. Taxes are skyrocketing. Jobs and young people are fleeing to other states,” said Sigler. “I’m running for State Senate to bring some common sense and middle ground to Albany. We need more mainstream and less extreme in State Policy.”
Lea Webb is seeking reelection to a second term for Senate District 52. The 52nd district covers all of Tompkins and Cortland Counties, and part of Broome County, including the City of Binghamton. Webb was first elected to the district in 2022.
