Sidewalks on Cayuga Street in Village of Homer Delayed to Next Year
The Village of Homer’s Walkable Homer project is expected to continue into next year with sidewalk replacement on Cayuga Street delayed until then. During the Village Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday, Deputy Mayor Pat Clune spoke of how so far this year, crews with the village’s Department of Public Works (DPW) have done about 4,000 in new sidewalks on James and Clinton Street in the village.
Work was expected to take place on Cayuga Street this year, but due to weather and the DPW called for numerous storm cleanups, Cayuga Street is now delayed until next year. Deputy Mayor Clun also noted there were ongoing concrete delivery issues that resulted in additional delays.
The Village plans to file for another extension with the state for the project to continue another year. Homer Village Clerk Dan Egnor noted the village can only file extensions year-to-year and it shouldn’t be an issue according to the Village of Homer’s state liaison and the partners part of the reimbursement for the grant funding.
