Shortened quarantine time announced by Governor Hochul for essential employees

Governor Hochul announced on Friday (December 24) that essential workers will only have to quarantine for 5 days instead of 10 if they test positive for covid. This will only apply to fully vaccinated workers who are asymptomatic.

The person must have at least 72 hours without fever without using medication, no runny noses, improving to no symptoms and a minimal cough. Testing is not required.

On Thursday (December 23), the CDC announced that healthcare workers can return after 7 days or shorter if there are staffing shortages. New York state has adjusted their plan based on the guidance of the CDC.
