The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office has identified the individuals involved in a car and tractor-trailer crash on Route 41 in the Town of Scott on Thursday.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the two occupants of the car — 86-year-old Ward Dukelow and 82-year-old Joann Dukelow, both of Homer — were transported to Upstate University Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was identified as 63-year-old William Schuessler of Sodus Point. Authorities said he was operating the vehicle for Eagle Eye Transport, based in Elbridge. He was uninjured.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene at approximately 10:20 a.m. Homer Fire Department, TLC Ambulance, and the Sheriff’s Office responded. Due to the severity of the crash, Homer Fire issued an all-hands response and requested mutual aid from Spafford Fire Department. Cortland County Fire Coordinators Whitney and Contri also assisted at the scene.

Route 41 was closed between Glen Haven Road and Route 41A until approximately 1 p.m.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office at (607) 753-3311 or Investigator Sergeant Peter Wright at (607) 758-6151.
