Sheriff – Shoplifting Complaint At Walmart Turns Up Fentanyl

Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Walmart last Saturday for a larceny that had occurred.


After arriving on scene, officers began their investigation and found 48 year old Hope A. Eades of Cortland had stolen multiple items from the store. As officers were searching Eades, they found her to be in possession of 15 glassine envelopes that contained fentanyl, plastic baggies containing fentanyl, Alprazolam pills and an undisclosed amount of cash.

She was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd, a Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th, and Petit Larceny, both Misdemeanors.

Eades was transported to the Sheriff’s Office where she was arraigned and later released due to bail reform. She is due to appear in Cortlandville Town Court next week.
